I have a question for you LSC...if the earth was concave couldn't we use a telescope to see across to the other side? Are you saying atmospheric refraction bends the light? If it doesn't bend the light then it must bend the water because if the earth was concave all the water would collect at the bottom.

the 'couldn't we see the other side" question is for the ignornant and naive who don't care to figure it out. and water conforms to the concave surface of the earth. this was proven by the naples beach exp. you just have a bias to straight water based on tubs and sinks - too small of a distance to see it curve.

Just saying an answer's obvious when it's been asked in good faith is a surefire way to make people doubt you. There are multiple problems with a concave Earth: the force that keeps us on the surface, the formation of it, the stars... Why we can't see long distances however still needs to be answered. Far more likely that the world is simply flat.

Well, if it is concave, at what degree is the rise/fall? It's just the opposite of the globe, instead of looking for a drop below horizon we would see a raised horizon. Depending on how concave you believe it is, you would have to explain water settling to the lowest point. Is it concave like a hub-cap? Is it more of a salad bowl? Is there a Dome over the concave theory? Why Antarctic treaties on a concave earth? What is up on the outside rim of the concave earth? Why make response comments like " the 'couldn't we see the other side" question is for the ignornant and naive who don't care to figure it out." What effect would we see in oceans if the edges were similar to a salad bowl? The ripples always find center, we would be tidal waved from all sides if we were in the middle.

What do you guys think about Simon Shack's attitude towards flat Earth? www.cluesforum.info/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1810&start=15He believes it is a psy-op to discredit those who believe NASA space travel is a hoax by associating them with silly concepts like FE. I don't think it is possible to be so certain of anything anymore, so I am surprised Simon is so sure the Earth cannot be flat.

I am suspicious of those who are suspicious of flat earth. I don't think it is wrong to be suspicious, however, I don't understand why he pretends it is completely guaranteed it's a globe etc?!? Maybe I have misunderstood his stance on the issue, but he doesn't seem to have any doubts about that. I don't see how anyone can be sure the Earth is a globe. All observations might have simply been interpreted wrongly. My point is that it's always taken on faith. Even if there is "evidence" it still ultimately boils down to beliefs.
