The curvature formula is the best, yes. But there are so many. First of all, the horizon, the fact that things don't disappear on the horizon, they don't go over the "curve". And with binoculars, they reappear. With a telescope, they reappear from very very far away. Another is the flight paths. They generally give evidence of a flat earth. Another is construction. Things are not built with consideration of the curvature of the earth. The longest bridges don't have to take it into account. Some have claimed they do, but I've researched it. They don't. Still another is the amateur balloons and rockets. They always show a flat earth on their cameras. Even up to 110,000 feet. Surely at that level, you should see a curve. There are many more. These alone, should convince anyone that the earth is flat. Thank you for starting a thread here. |

Wow. You guys still messing about with observational FET? Pointing at abstract things and making a best guess to explain them in flat earth terms. That's a great way to spot something and ascribe the wrong explanation.
Yes, everyone is into flat earth show and tell at the moment. But that isn't flat earth theory. Everything should marry up, everything should explain everything else. You should be able to see something new and instantly have a good idea as to the causes by using your other flat earth experience.
You want one offs for this thread? Some of my favourites ... but they are built on a deeper understanding of FET.
Float Glass
Industrial glass is made using the float process. Molten glass is laid upon a bath of molten tin. It is this that makes the glass flat. This is a continuous process and the tin baths are over half a mile long. You'll remember the Bedford level experiment. A liquid's surface should follow the form of the earth? Well the glass people use lasers to scan the glass for imperfections. I think its something like 12,000 scans a minute from memory. The make "Perfectly flat, flaw free glass". That's its name, that's what they advertise. I asked several glass companies if they press or shave their glass. Many responded and of those who did, all said "No, its the process of laying it on the tin that makes glass flat". So I followed up with my objection that the tolerances they claim were outside of the curvature I would expect from earth's shape if the earth were a ball. I asked if the glass companies thought the earth to be flat, or whether I could sue them for selling perfectly lenticular flaw free glass and using false claims in their advertising. Faced with this choice Admitting earth to be flat or admitting they are lying about how flat and perfect their glass really is, you'll be surprised to hear not a single one ever replied to me ever again despite repeated attempts to contact them.
Bridges
The Humber bridge is often cited as having towers that are further apart at the top than at the bottom. 2 cm I think from memory. So the flat earth society contacted the Bridge master for the Humber bridge and asked him to verify this. He replied in a letter saying although this was wildly written about in the media it wasn't true at all. The towers were the same distance apart all the way up and he had no idea why.
Twin Towers
This one is very easy to find info because of the disaster. Like the bridge, the walls should lean outwards. The building was built with laser plumb lines, they used gravity not set squares to line the walls up. But because there is so much conspiracy data out there (and frankly I have no interest in 911 conspiracy theories) you can see the schematics for the building very easily. Now if the walls leant outwards, of course you would have more square footage of floor area on the top floors. Actually quite a lot. Enough for a coffee table and a few sofas. But the schematics show now such thing. All the floors are uniform. The twin towers are a lovely example because they were so square. Makes it very obvious. And things like lift tolerances would go out as you ascend the building. You'd get gaps. Again, nothing and no compensation for this. The twin towers were built as if the earth is flat.
I could think of 100 others, but this is a forum, not the start of a new book.
The dust has settled, you guys have all fallen out, accused everyone of everything, hate the other groups, lost your momentum and will all soon drift away. Its tough running a society that survives the test of time. Maybe we do know a thing or two over at TFES. And yeah, you won't like everything you see, or agree with everyone else. Without tolerance, you don't have a society. And that includes allowing the likes of Dubay, Sergant, Boylan, and all the others to just do their thing. They get people interested. You are never going to convince anyone the earth is flat. It is a journey an individual must take for themselves. And for that, all they need is interest.

I didn't say it was a shill forum. Or rather, I might have said so in the past. Now I don't call anyone a "shill" anymore (after being called one), and I say that you are the Rotary Club of flat earth, and joke around a bit too much (not in this case, but on the forum). However, you have freedom of speech, and I have learned to appreciate it. Congratulations on the freedom of speech that you have there.

Where is the 770 mile high curve that cannot be observed?
I tested a 13 mile lake and using a laser 6" above the water got a reading of 5" on the other side. Should have been 7-9 feet higher on the other side. Bring it Neil. Bring it Bill. If Gravity were any more of a constructed lie, I'd call it Obama's Birth Certificate.

For me, it's just a matter of determining how a world could form. The spherical model doesn't make sense, because not only is everything being accelerated from the 'center', and spinning around some set points in space, but then the according-to-REers miniscule gravitational pull of dust is able to act despite all of those other forces, and overcome.
It doesn't make much sense: and there are no other explanations for how it would even be possible for other shaped worlds to come about.
Flatness, however, has many sources: such as two forces hitting each other.

What?? Every flat earth example is about being able to see a curvature of the Earth in one way or another. Um it's obvious the Earth is freaking MASSIVE. Of course you can't measure these things with the naked eyes. In examples like buildings and bridges, there was no need to change the dimensions of the object the farther/longer it is because the "lost space/distance" is negligible to the end product. Would this make said structure perfect? Nope! Said object will have problems making it vulnerable to maybe, collapse? As in the twin towers going down so easily? And that would explain that whole conspiracy about how the twin towers went down so easily. If it quakes like a duck and looks like a duck... maybe it's just a fuckin duck?
